Books: The Beck Diet Solution is coming soon…

What does Cognitive Therapy (CT) have to do with dieting? That’s exactly what Judith S. Beck talks about in her new book: The Beck Diet Solution: train your brain to think like a thin person. CT has been effectively applied to a broad range of disorders, including eating disorders, and the same techniques that help people learn to think more realistically, feel better, and change their behavior for other problems can also help them to lose weight. Dr. Beck has written a book for consumers with a truly new approach to dieting. It’s a six-week program that provides step-by-step instructions for using cognitive (thinking) and behavioral skills to lose weight and keep it off permanently. Look for The Beck Diet Solution in April of 2007.

I am just wondering if you know that there is a german book and internet course about loosing weight with CBT. There is a book written by Doris Wolf, who is a CBT therapist. She and another author have written also some other books about CBT (as far as I know they are something like the german equivalent to “feeling good” or “mind over mood”).

The book about dieting is called “Abnehmen und dabei genießen”, which means something like “loosing weight and enjoying yourself”. It teaches to listen to your body and eat only when hungry not when e.g. being frustrated and also to listen to those automatic thoughts in your head related to eating and also change them. And a couple of other things.

There is also a 10 weeks internet course with a forum that teaches the same thing, it`s called “Natural weight program” and you can find it at
