Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Depression and Anxiety Workshop Level I

Info

Learn the fundamentals of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) through an experiential workshop under the direction of Judith Beck, Ph.D. The three-day Level I workshop focuses on CBT for depression and anxiety in adults and adolescents. A highlight of the workshop is a case conference with Dr. Aaron Beck, including a live patient interview via close-circuit TV followed by a question-and-answer session. Participants also have opportunities to role-play, practicing specific techniques and conceptual skills to use with clients.  [This training is geared towards certification in CBT and includes 18 CE/CME credits

Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Personality Disorders and Challenging Problems Workshop Level II

The Level II workshop, under the direction of Judith S. Beck, Ph.D.,  is designed for experienced professionals who want to enhance their ability to deliver CBT efficiently and effectively to clients who pose a challenge in treatment. Participants are encouraged to bring notes and DVDs or video files to present complex or difficult cases for discussion with Beck Institute Faculty and other workshop participants. Through case discussions, DVDs by master clinicians, worksheet completion, demonstrations followed by supervised role-playing, and other experiential activities, participants will learn and practice new skills and strategies, gain new insights into patient behaviors that interfere with therapy and will return to the office with specific techniques to use in challenging cases.  [This training is geared towards certification in CBT and includes 18 CE/CME creditsClick here to see recent video from Beck Institute workshops.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Substance Abuse Specialty Workshop

This experiential workshop covers the basics of cognitive behavior therapy for mental health professionals who treat substance abuse disorders. Under the direction of Judith Beck, Ph.D. participants will learn about the special characteristics and culture of this population and how to adapt CBT accordingly, with an emphasis on the treatment of craving and permission giving beliefs. Participants will also learn how to develop an individualized conceptualization of the client based on the Cognitive Model, plan treatment based on this conceptualization, develop a sound therapeutic alliance, structure sessions, and use CBT interventions. Techniques for treating substance abuse will be illustrated through roleplays and worksheets. Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Children and Adolescents Specialty Workshop

Under the direction of Judith S. Beck, Ph.D., this experiential workshop covers the basics of cognitive behavioral therapy for children and adolescents with depression and anxiety.  Topics covered include how to develop a conceptualization based on the Cognitive Model, plan treatment, and deliver CBT interventions to children, adolescents and their families. Specialized techniques are described and demonstrated for clients with depression, suicidality, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Training focuses on therapy with clients between the ages of 7 and 18. Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Depression and Anxiety Workshop Level I for Students and Faculty

Learn the fundamentals of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) through an experiential workshop under the direction of Judith Beck, Ph.D. The three-day Level I workshop focuses on CBT for depression and anxiety in adults and adolescents. There are three differences from our regular Level I workshop: (1) no CE credits will be included; (2) this workshop is offered at a special rate for graduate students and faculty members; and (3) an hour long question and answer seminar with Dr. Aaron Beck is planned.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Schizophrenia A Recovery-Oriented Model [Specialty Workshop]

Under the direction of Judith S. Beck, Ph.D., this experiential workshop will cover the theory, empirical-basis, strategies, and interventions of cognitive behavior therapy for patients with schizophrenia (both those who are higher functioning and those who are lower functioning). Topics covered will also include how to engage patients, how to develop a conceptualization based upon the cognitive model; how to plan treatment based upon goal setting, goal attainment, and tracking goal progress; how to address positive, negative, and disorganized symptoms; how to get patients behaviorally activated (including constructive and pleasurable activities and increased socializing with others), and how to work with patients who have cognitive impairments, low insight, and/or low motivation for treatment. The workshop will be a mix of information, video clips, and interactive exercises.
